AlaskaTides.app is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards to satisfy modern web criteria.
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
AlaskaTides.app is fully conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This means that all primary content, controls, charts, and maps are designed and implemented to meet or exceed Level AA accessibility criteria.
Accessibility Features Built Into AlaskaTides
- Enhanced Text Sizes: All routine body text throughout the application is maintained at or above 15px (except for chart labels and map attribution, which are never smaller than 12.5px) for comfortable readability.
- Theme Controls: Includes dedicated high-contrast outdoor modes (Field Red and Field Green) designed to be readable under intense daylight and dark environments.
- Screen Reader Support: Semantic headings, list rows, interactive controls with clear labels, and explicit alternative descriptions for charts and tide curves.
- Touch Target Optimization: Interactive buttons, tabs, and selectors have touch target areas of at least 44×44 pixels, ensuring ease of use on mobile screens.
- Keyboard Navigation: Clear visual focus rings and logical tab order for keyboard and auxiliary switch users.
- Reduced Motion Support: Honoring system-level reduced motion preferences to disable rapid animations and layout transitions.

Governing law
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, these legal terms and any dispute arising out of or related to the Service are governed by the laws of the State of Alaska, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
Dispute resolution and venue
Where permitted by law, you and Four Media Group LLC agree that:
- Any dispute arising out of or relating to the Service or these terms should first be addressed informally by contacting us.
- If not resolved informally, disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Anchorage, Alaska, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction and venue, unless applicable law requires a different forum.
You consent to the personal jurisdiction of the courts located in Anchorage, Alaska, and waive any objection to venue in such courts, to the extent permitted by law.
Class action waiver (where permitted)
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you and Four Media Group LLC agree that disputes shall be brought only in your individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative proceeding.
Severability and survival
If any provision of these legal terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including but not limited to disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution terms) shall survive and remain in effect.
