Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 18, 2026 (Version 2026.1)

This Privacy Policy describes how Four Media Group LLC, an Alaska limited liability company (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, and shares your information when you use AlaskaTides.app.

Information we collect

When you use AlaskaTides.app, we may collect:

  • Service logs and device data such as IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, approximate region, and timestamps. This information is typically stored in server logs and analytics systems.
  • App interaction data such as which features you use, stations you view, and basic performance/diagnostic metrics (for example, errors and load times).
  • Optional location data if you grant your browser or device permission to share your approximate location. We use this only to suggest nearby stations and related “nearest station” features; you can deny location permissions and still use the Service.
  • Optional contact information (for example, your name and email address) if you choose to contact us directly.

We do not intentionally collect information that directly identifies you unless you voluntarily provide it (for example, in a support email). We do not sell your personal information.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and secure the Service.
  • Monitor usage patterns, performance, and reliability in aggregate.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical or security issues, abuse, or misuse.
  • Plan product improvements and understand which features are most useful.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide basic support if you reach out to us.

Where applicable, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service as a legal basis for processing usage data. When we rely on your consent (for example, for analytics cookies or location permissions), you can withdraw that consent through your browser, device settings, or by disabling cookies.

Cookies and analytics

AlaskaTides.app may use cookies and similar technologies to remember basic preferences (such as theme mode or your last viewed station) and to collect analytics about how the Service is used. We currently use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages are visited, how long pages take to load, and basic device/browser information.

Google Analytics may set its own cookies or rely on browser‑based identifiers and may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, approximate location, and pages you visit. Google processes this information on our behalf to provide analytics services. For more detail, including how to control cookies and opt out of certain analytics, see our Cookie & tracking policy and Google’s own privacy materials.

Data sharing

We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate, host, or analyze the Service (for example, hosting/CDN, logging, and analytics providers such as Google Analytics), under contractual or practical obligations to protect your information and use it only to provide services to us.
  • Authorities or others if required by law or in a good‑faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect our rights or the rights and safety of others.

We do not share information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

Data retention

We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, to meet legal obligations, or to resolve disputes. This typically means keeping server logs and diagnostics for a limited operational period and retaining analytics data according to the defaults of our analytics provider, which may change over time. When data is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete, de‑identify, or aggregate it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to help protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

Depending on your device and browser, you may be able to:

  • Disable or limit cookies in your browser settings.
  • Use built‑in privacy controls to limit sharing of certain device or location data.
  • Disable or revoke location permissions for AlaskaTides.app at any time.

If you contact us, you may request that we delete or correct information you voluntarily provided, subject to legal or operational requirements and our ability to reasonably identify your data in our systems.

Children’s privacy

AlaskaTides.app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

International users

AlaskaTides.app is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand that your information may be processed and stored in the U.S. and other countries, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date near the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
